Transportation funds and disbursement of these funds for both maintenance and construction have evolved into a systematic process that prioritizes funding based on need. Through state and federal programs 33 categories for construction as well as at least 3 categories for maintenance have been created as a result of Federal and State Legislation and Texas Transportation Commission actions in Texas. This presentation will provide an overview of the funding and distribution of funds for both construction and maintenance as well as give an overview of maintenance work areas of the Texas Department of Transportation .
